Medical Receptionist
Front Office Medical Receptionist- Very Busy Office


Works under moderate supervision to courteously and professionally process patients into the department for their medical visits.


Greet patients, create a friendly helpful contact and monitor waiting time prior to medical appointment.

Schedule and verify medical appointments, process paper work for appointment and direct patients to appropriate locations.

Interface with administrative personnel to ensure medical record is available for each patient's appointment.

Ensure all medical records contain necessary forms for medical appointments and deliver medical record to the physician.

Collect fee-for-service and co-payments from patients and process charge tickets.

Obtain and/or distribute patient information as needed to include signature, completion of forms, surveys, etc.

Answer departmental phones and direct patient inquiries as needed.

Prepare final accounting of assigned cash drawer.

Schedule pharmaceutical representative meetings as applicable.

Enters patient information into computer database.

Performs insurance review by phone to obtain precertification for admission and outpatient services.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Can be a stressful position- must be able to handle lots of phone calls!


Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to pay close attention to detail, work in a fast paced environment.

Ability to operate a calculator and CRT/typewriter, ability to balance a cash drawer.

Professional, neat appearance.
Customer Service skills are a MUST


High School diploma or equivalent. Up to six months of previous receptionist or general office experience.
