Clinical Informatics:
Reports to: Chief Nursing Officer Department: Nursing
JOB SUMMARY:
The Clinical Informaticist will be primarily responsible for the daily operations of the clinical portion of the electronic medical record. The staff member will be expected to attend trainings pertinent clinical applications,, nursing point of care (POC), and computerized physician order entry (CPOE). The position is also expected to provide appropriate training in classroom setting or individual training as needed for updates, new employees, or retraining of staff. The staff member will primarily report to the Chief Nursing Officer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate and facilitate on-going clinical information system evaluation.
2.Develops and implements action plans as needed to support user accuracy, date integrity and system reliability.
3.Provide quality first line support for the facility users of clinical applications.
4.Educate staff utilizing appropriate adult learning principles.
5.Coordinate training of staff for new employees, updates to the programming, and ongoing staff training as needed.
6.Perform as the POC contact.
7.Perform and the CPOE contact.
8.Responsible for ongoing maintenance of the POC documentation.
9.Coordination of clinical and non- clinical communication between all departments.
10.Liaison for physicians on all POC issues
11.Training new physicians in Chartlink and CPOE.
12.Perform other related duties as assigned.
13.Complies with all applicable state and federal laws and conducts job activities in an ethical manner as outlined in policies and procedures
Qualifications:
1.Must have current nursing license in the state of Kentucky.
2.Must possess knowledge of clinical nursing practice and adult learning principles
3.Computer skills a must, knowledge of Microsoft Office products a plus.
Education, Training or Experience:
Requires both on the job training as well as formal education opportunities. Experience preferred in the current operating system (CPSI).
