Sun safety focuses on minimizing exposure to harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun to prevent sunburn, premature aging, and skin cancer. Key strategies include limiting sun exposure during peak hours, using sunscreen, wearing protective clothing, and seeking shade.

Sun Safety Tips to Protect Your Skin:

Limit Sun Exposure:

The sun's UV rays are strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Seek shade, especially during peak hours.
Be aware that water, snow, and sand reflect sunlight, increasing your risk of sunburn.

Use Sunscreen:

Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher liberally to all exposed skin.
Apply sunscreen 15-30 minutes before going outside and reapply every two hours, or more often if swimming or sweating.
Use enough sunscreen – about 1 ounce (a golf ball's worth) for your body.

Wear Protective Clothing:

Choose clothing that covers as much skin as possible, such as long sleeves, pants, and a wide-brimmed hat.
Look for clothing with a UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) label for added protection.

Protect Your Eyes:

Wear sunglasses that block 99-100% of both UVA and UVB rays.
Consider sunglasses with side panels or wraparound styles for maximum protection.
