Release date: October 17, 2025
After more than 12 years of dedicated service as Chief Executive Officer — and a total of 17 years across two tenures — David Fuqua has announced his plans to retire from Marshall County Hospital effective February 27, 2026.
Fuqua earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Tennessee and a Master of Health Administration from the Medical College of Virginia. Over his distinguished career, he has spent more than 30 years in hospital leadership, serving as CEO at several healthcare organizations.
Reflecting on his tenure, David stated:
“It has been my honor to lead MCH and work alongside such a remarkable group of people who are deeply dedicated to their community and the care they provide. I am proud of what we have accomplished together, especially our ability to serve during times of community crisis — including the school shooting, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the tornado.”
During his tenure, David led initiatives that have strengthened the hospital and expanded access to care, including the Mercy Health MRI joint venture, Rural Health Clinic development, 340B program, new Medical Office Building, expanded physician recruitment, and the new urgent care clinic in Draffenville.
We are grateful for David’s vision, leadership, and service — and we wish him all the best in retirement (and in lowering that golf handicap!).
